The two teams set out on a twenty kilometer race that wasn't actually the challenge, which was "The Awake-A-Thon." The camper who is the last one awake, wins for their team. As the first alliance is formed, another camper is voted off the island, due to the leader's meddling.

Chris wakes the two teams up at seven in the morning and says the next challenge begins in one minute with a twenty kilometer run around the lake. Some campers make an attempt at the run, while others choose to walk, and a few campers, such as Noah and Harold, struggle to even finish. Afterward, the tired campers are gathered in the main lodge. When everyone on the Screaming Gophers arrives before everyone on the Killer Bass, they think they have won the challenge. However, Chris interrupts them to say the run wasn't the challenge and unveils a delicious banquet for the campers to eat. Turkey, energy bars, cooked beans, maple syrup, gravy, and much more make up the meal. The campers gladly eat all of the food, overwhelmed by being able to eat real food after a week of Chef Hatchet's barely-edible meals. They all think they have been through enough, but Chris announces the second part of the challenge: the Awake-A-Thon. The rules are that the last person awake wins the challenge for his or her team. The twenty kilometer run and the large banquet of food served to make it more difficult for the campers to keep from falling asleep.
Twelve hours into the competition, Chris notes that all twenty one campers are still awake, but Owen quickly becomes the first one to succumb to slumber. Heather muses in her confessional about setting up an alliance to get her to the final three, needing someone desperate or dumb enough to to whatever she says. She asks Beth and Lindsay to join her in the alliance in which they agree to do. On her way to the bathroom, Eva drops her MP3 player. Heather, apparently well aware of Eva's short temper and conflict with her own team already, secretly scoops up the fallen MP3 player, and hides it. Heather banks on this enraging Eva, which will cause her teammates to eliminate her and get rid of one of their strongest members.
When the Awake-A-Thon hits the twenty-four hour mark (one full day and night), seventeen of the twenty-one campers remain awake, with Bridgette, Noah, and Izzy now also asleep. Chris decides to start reading fairy tales to the campers, accompanied by Chef (dressed in a tutu) playing the harp in order to lull more of the campers into sleeping. Chef starts dancing and sprinkling "sparkles" (possibly "sleeping sand") over the campers while Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy plays in the background. DJ, despite his attempts to stay awake by tying himself to a tree, falls asleep, taking the tree down with him. Courtney looks to keep moving in place constantly in order to stay awake, but eventually falls asleep as well. The score evens up with four Gophers and Bass awake when Lindsay and Beth fall asleep. Owen is seen sleepwalking in the nude as Trent and Gwen talk to each other to try and stay awake, making it the first time a relationship between the two starts to bud. Owen falls off the thousand foot cliff as his sleepwalking continues.
At the fifty-one hour mark, Gwen, Trent, and Eva notice that Justin has painted eyes to pretend to be awake and Chris disqualifies him. After Owen is shown sleep-swimming upstream with the fish, the scene shifts to eighty-five hours into the Awake-A-Thon. Duncan passes the time by causing a sleeping Harold to wet himself by putting his hand in warm water; Duncan is ecstatic when he realizes the old trick actually works. Noah awakes to discover he is cuddling with Cody and kissing his ear, which leads to both of them screaming in horror. Eventually, Chris suggests that the campers who had fallen asleep should take a shower, as everyone was starting to smell by this point. Harold, hoping no one will see that he had wet himself, is more than glad to obey.
By the 100-hour mark, only Duncan, Gwen, Heather, Eva, and Trent are left awake. Chris uses his last resort to lull the remaining campers to sleep: reading to them the history of Canada in pop-up book form. This is boring enough to put Eva and Heather to sleep. Soon after, Trent falls asleep, devastating Gwen. After only the first chapter of the book, it was now down to only one Gopher and one Bass: Gwen and Duncan, respectively. After a while, Chris decides to give the remaining contestants a bathroom break. Duncan tries to hold it, but concedes when Gwen challenges him to hold it for another ten chapters. Duncan is later found asleep in the stall, and this news is announced mere seconds before Gwen falls asleep as well. Gwen is the official winner of the Awake-A-Thon, giving her and her team invincibility.
Later that afternoon, Eva is seen throwing things out of her cabin's window, looking for her MP3 player. Eva accuses her teammates of stealing it. Soon Heather arrives and says she found the MP3 player next to the campfire pit, then hands it back to Eva, who tries to apologize to her team for snapping and accusing them, but is only frowned upon. That night at the campfire ceremony, Chris gives the marshmallows to Duncan, Bridgette, Courtney, Katie, Sadie, Tyler, DJ and Geoff. Then it goes down to Eva and Harold, and Chris gives the final marshmallow to Harold. So, Eva is voted off for her temper. After screaming at her former teammates and kicking Chris in the shin, Eva boards the Boat Of Losers and leaves the island.
Meanwhile, Courtney has a marshmallow toast with her teammates; vowing that her team will not end up in this position again next week. Owen is sleeping in a cave as four Sasquatchanakwas look at him. One pokes him with a stick causing him to fart. The Sasquatchanakwas sniff the air, then throw Owen out of the cave.

- Noah might as well had a problem as Owen carried him through the campsite possibly (off screen) and made everybody clear the Gophers table in challenge one. He seemed alright once Chris said that the Gophers won so there might be a small possibility that he was just faking it.
- Heather stated that she hated the fact that she was overweight in her past, but after the buffet, she showed no signs of anger over her weight gain (although she was probably more overweight in her past)
- Duncan and Gwen were both asleep for most of the next episode, Dodgebrawl.
- This was the only multiple day challenge in the show.
- This also did not have a three day gap from it to the next challenge
- This challenge last four days therefore; it was five days from the start of this challenge to Dodgebrawl conflicting with the show being eight weeks long by adding an extra two days.
- The Killer Bass were never ahead during the Awake-A-Thon. They always had fewer or equal members to the Screaming Gophers.

Noah, Justin, Tyler, Izzy, Bridgette, DJ, and Geoff appear, but have no lines, although Noah is heard screaming when he realizes he was kissing Cody's ear, Tyler is heard screaming and DJ yawns when he falls asleep.

Trent: Cool... they even fall asleep together.
- Gwen: (yawns) I'd kill for a coffee right now.
Chris: (drinking a coffee) What is wrong with you people? C'mon, fall asleep already!
Gwen: (on her knees, desperately tugging at Chris' shirt) You've gotta hook me up, man. I'll even eat the grinds!
- Chris: I didn't want it to come to this. I said that to Chef Hatchet last night. I said, "Chef, I don't want it to come to this." But darn it, these campers are tough! And so, I've come up with the most boring, sleep-inducing activity I can find.
Gwen: (in the confessional) Oh, come on! What now? Okay, you know what? Bring it on!
Chris: The History of Canada. A pop-up book. Chapter one, the beaver. National symbol and a "dam" fine hat.
- Chris: Before we continue on with the story, who needs a bathroom break?
Duncan: I've held it this long, sweetheart! I can go all day.
Gwen: Yeah, but can you hold it for another ten chapters?
- Eva:(sarcastically) Nice, really nice. Who needs this stupid TV show anyway?! (kicks Chris in the shin)
Chris:(clutching his leg) OW! Have a good night sleep tonight. You're all safe.
- Courtney: Bye-bye, Eva. (Eva throws a spear at Courtney, which barely misses her) Touchy!
- Eva: (as she is leaving on the Boat of Losers) I guess my temper did get the better of me... again. But whatever, it's their loss. They just lost their strongest competitor; I hope they realize that!

- When all the campers are standing in front of the cabins, getting ready for the first challenge, Harold is seen walking over to stand next to Eva, but in the next scene Cody is walking over to her and he clearly wasn't anywhere near by in the previous scene.
- Chris is wearing shorts when he wakes the campers up (Heather even comments on this). However, when he starts the run around the lake, he is wearing pants. However, Chris' superficial personality may have made him feel like changing his pants.
- After the buffet, Gwen and Heather appear to have gained a lot of weight, enough to change the shape of their bellies, but when the Awake-a-Thon begins, their bellies have returned to normal.
- In the confessional, Courtney says that Eva had only been on Camp Wawanakwa one day, meaning that was how long they were on the island. However, Gwen later says that they had eaten Chef's food for a week, implying that they were there for at least that long. It's possible Courtney recorded her confession in Not So Happy Campers - Part 2.
- When Gwen and Trent see Owen naked, their eyes are wide and the bags are missing. The eyes also widen when they think Justin is still awake, yet the bags are still there. (However, Owen being nude may have been more shocking.)
- The Screaming Gophers apparently won the racing part of the challenge, however Izzy doesn't appear with the Gophers in the cafeteria.
- When the Bass team are waving good-bye to Eva, Justin is seen with them, though he is not a Bass member. Justin is also seen in the same scene earlier when Eva throws a spear.
- When the campers are sitting in the cafeteria waiting for the others to finish their run, the table on the right has Gwen sitting on the inside row. However, in the next scene, Beth is sitting there.
- When Gwen is talking to Trent (attempting to stay awake) the bags under her eyes are missing, however they instantly show up again on her close up.
- At one point, the score stands at nine Gophers to seven Bass. However, these scores are reversed, as there are nine Bass awake (only Bridgette is asleep) to seven Gophers (Owen, Noah, Izzy, and LeShawna are asleep).
- When the counter points out six Gopher campers are still up, there are actually seven awake: (Gwen, Trent, Heather, Justin, Lindsay, Beth, and Cody).
- Before Owen began to sleep during the twelve-hour checkpoint, Chris said that all twenty-one campers are still awake. However, when Owen got eliminated, the scoreboard shows that the Killer Bass are winning ten to nine. The Screaming Gophers still have all eleven teammates, meaning that if all twenty-one campers participated, the original score should have been the Gophers with eleven to the Bass' ten, and later ten to ten after Owen got eliminated.
- Throughout the series, Cody has a gap in his teeth, but when Owen farts in his face, he has a full top row of teeth.
- When Eva is turning the cabin upside down trying to find her MP3 Player, she throws Trent's guitar out the window at one point, but Trent is not a Killer Bass, however, she may have been suspicious of the other team as well as her own.
- When some of the campers fall asleep there are still bags under their eyes, but when Duncan and a few other campers fell asleep the bags are gone.
