Screaming Gophers
This is Total. Drama. Wiki!
The Screaming Gophers are one of the two teams on the animated Canadian television show, Total Drama Island. It is sometimes considered to be the superior team over the Killer Bass. The Screaming Gophers originally consisted of Owen, Gwen, Beth, Trent, Justin, LeShawna, Heather, Cody, Noah, Lindsay, and Katie. Yet in the episode Not So Happy Campers - Part 2, Katie and Sadie (being inseparable) pleaded that they could be in the same team, and finally, Chris let Katie switch to the Killer Bass and as a result, Izzy became a Screaming Gopher.
The Screaming Gophers were undefeated until Dodgebrawl, when the Killer Bass defeated them three to five dodgeball matches (due to Harold's figure skating skills). Noah The Know-It-All became the first Screaming Gopher voted off the island because of his refusal to help in the match. All the way up until If You Can't Take The Heat, the Gophers always had equal or more people on their team than the Bass. The final three were all Screaming Gophers (Heather, Gwen and Owen).
From Up the Creek to If You Can't Take the Heat, The Screaming Gophers lost three consecutive challenges over the Bass which decreased their numbers below those of the Killer Bass for the first (and only) time in the season's run. This was mostly perceived as bad luck from a cursed tiki idol that Beth unknowingly stole from Boney Island in Up the Creek, which lead to her elimination and three additional and retribution challenge wins for themselves (giving the Gophers a 6-4 advantage over the Bass at the merge). Surprisingly enough, the teams were relatively equal in team members for most of the game until Duncan, the final Killer Bass, was eliminated, leaving the final three all members of the Screaming Gophers.
The Screaming Gophers are friendly people, however Heather remains snobbish and give the Gophers a bad reputation toward the Killer Bass. Justin's personality makes him seem polite and good-natured, even when he is manipulating others using his looks, which renders him narcissistic. Owen, Trent, and LeShawna are generally friendly and well-liked. Izzy is mainly friendly towards everyone, though her weird stories and crazy attitude often annoy the other campers. Cody is friendly, but also dorky and awkward at times. Beth tries to be nice to everyone, going to the extreme because of her desire for friends. Gwen is considered a grumpy loner, yet is respected by most of the other campers and was nice whenever in a good mood. Lindsay is a sweet person who, when not being controlled by Heather, tries to be nice to all the other campers, even if she can't even remember their names. Overall, the Screaming Gophers are a winning and powerful mix of people who seem to have plenty trouble within their group.
The Screaming Gophers' logo is a green gopher standing upright with its fists drawn out. It is mounted on a pale yellow circle with a green ring around it.
Interestingly, the team is called the Screaming Gophers and the other team they are competing against is the Killer Bass. The names are probably meant to imply that the Gophers are cowardly and the Bass are strong. However, it's actually the Gophers who win the most challenges over the Bass, although most of the challenges that the teams were faced with did not require a great deal of physical strength, mostly endurance, intelligence, and bravery.
The Total Drama Action equivalent of the Screaming Gophers is the Screaming Gaffers.

[edit] Castmates Eliminated
| Name | Sex | Rank voted off of team | Rank voted off | Episode voted off | Reason voted off |
| Noah | Male | 1st | 3rd | Dodgebrawl | Noah didn't help his team members and refused to play the game |
| Justin | Male | 2nd | 4th | Not Quite Famous | Heather convinced other campers to vote him off instead of her |
| Izzy | Female | 3rd | 7th | Up the Creek | She was hunted by the RCMP in Up the Creek. Returns again in No Pain, No Game. Note: She technically was not eliminated that time because the RCMP interrupted and Lindsay may have been voted off instead |
| Cody | Male | 4th | 8th | Paintball Deer Hunter | He was mauled by a bear and his team decided he was no longer useful. |
| Beth | Female | 5th | 9th | If You Can't Take The Heat... | She cursed the team with the tiki doll she brought from Boney Island (see Up the Creek) and was voted off when the curse was revealed. |
| Trent | Male | 6th | 12th | Search and Do Not Destroy | LeShawna convinced the other campers to vote off Heather or Trent, since Gwen told her about how she saw Trent kissing Heather, but since Heather won invincibility, they voted off Trent instead. Heather then tells everyone what she did, only it was too late. |
| Lindsay | Female | 7th | 14th | That's Off The Chain | Heather came first while the others (Duncan and Owen) had crashed in the process making Lindsay last to cross the finish line and automatically sent to the boat of losers. |
| Izzy | Female | 8th | 16th | Wawanakwa Gone Wild! | She was voted off again when she failed to capture her animal and shot Heather in the butt with a dart in Wawanakwa Gone Wild! |
| LeShawna | Female | 9th | 18th | Haut Camp-Ture | When Chris announced that the losers would choose a camper to be eliminated that episode, Katie, Sadie, Lindsay (twice), Trent, Izzy, Courtney, and the parrot (twice) said LeShawna's name, although Katie and Sadie were the only ones who meant to choose LeShawna. |
| Mr. Coconut | N/A | 10th | 18.5th | Camp Castaways | Everybody was freaked out by Mr. Coconut, so Chris threw him into the lake. He was then chopped in half by Chef Hatchet in the following episode. |
| Heather | Female | 11th | 20th | I Triple Dog Dare You | Heather was forced to do a series of intense dares from the voted off contestants, but Lindsay's dare was to 'get your head shaved by Chef. As Chef had a razor in his hand, Heather quickly kicked it up in the air and it with it landed, Heather got her hair accidentally shave. Chris then claimed that Heather was out because she did not truly accept the dare. |
| Gwen | Female | Runner Up | Runner Up | The Very Last Episode, Really! | Lost to Owen when Lindsay and Izzy, scared that their yacht party was in jeapordy, came up with brownies, while Lindsay held the fan facing the direction of Gwen and Owen. Owen's energy is renewed thanks to Izzy and Lindsay with their brownies. |
| Owen | Male | Winner | Winner | Winner | Lindsay and Izzy came up with brownies to lure Owen to the finish line, resulting in him passing Gwen, towards the brownies and right over the finish line, thus winning Total Drama Island. |

[edit] Trivia
- The Gopher's members seem to be more focused on winning than the Bass' members. Examples of this include:
- They win most of the challenges (both pre-merge and post-merge).
- All of the Screaming Gophers, excluding Katie (who was originally on the team), Cody, and Noah, qualified to compete in Total Drama Action .
- In addition, all of the Gophers (except for Trent, Beth, and Justin) will be returning for Total Drama, The Musical.
- Four out of the final five contestants (Owen, Gwen, Heather, and LeShawna) were Gophers, and the final three campers in Total Drama Island were all Gophers.
- A Screaming Gopher managed to win the first season of Total Drama Island.
- For some reason, Ezekiel is not included in the "Killer Bass" Picture. Instead, he is seen in the "Screaming Gophers" Picture. There are several strange flaws with the picture besides this. Examples include:
- The Gophers team is often seen to be able to work together in most of the challenges much better than the Bass. A good example is the very first challenge, in "Not So Happy Campers Part 2." In the second part of the challenge, the teams had to build a hot tub. Although it was probably just a one-time joke, the Gophers team was seen to work together in almost perfect harmony, while the Bass couldn't do anything without conflict.
- It is also worth noting that despite the fact that the Gophers were the first team to experience the dreaded three-in-a-row losing streak, they still managed to come out on top by the time the teams were officially dissolved in Episode 15. As there were 12 challenge episodes before the teams' dissolving, the Gophers managed to win 7 of these challenges, with the Bass winning only 5.
- "Not So Happy Campers Part 1 - Part 2:" The entire team worked together to win both phases of the challenge, with Beth being the only chicken on the team when it came to the cliff dive.
- "The Big Sleep:" Gwen stayed awake the longest (albeit, falling asleep barely thirty seconds after Duncan, the last standing Bass, did), thus winning the challenge.
- "The Sucky Outdoors:" Although the Bass team showed up first, they were missing two members (Katie and Sadie). The entire Gophers team showed up after this and won the challenge.
- "Phobia Factor:" They mainly won this challenge due to the cowardice of Tyler and Courtney on the Bass team.
- "Who Can You Trust:" They started winning challenges again, starting with this one, mainly due to the fact that Beth was voted off in the previous episode, which probably removed the curse she had placed on her team. They also won due to Sadie's stupidity on the Bass team.
- "Basic Straining:" Once again, Gwen was the last one standing in Chef Hatchet's boot camp, winning the challenge yet again.
- And "X-Treme Torture:" LeShawna and (surprisingly) Lindsay won two of the three phases of the challenge, thus winning the overall challenge for their team.
- In addition, a majority of the challenges after Episode 15 were won by former Gophers.
- "No Pain, No Game:" LeShawna won Invincibility and a luxurious trailer.
- "Search and Do Not Destroy:" Although almost everyone technically won the challenge, Heather won the greatest victory by winning the Invincibility Pass.
- "Hide and Be Sneaky:" LeShawna won once again, winning Invincibility. Heather also managed to win Invincibility.
- "That's Off The Chain:" Heather, yet again, won Invincibility.
- "Hook, Line, and Screamer:" Gwen won Invincibility.
- "Wawanakwa Gone Wild:" Gwen won the prize of a gourmet dinner.
- "Trial by Tri-Armed Triathlon," "After the Dock of Shame," and "Camp Castaways:" No one won.
- "Are We There, Yeti:" Gwen and Heather both won, and Duncan, the last Killer Bass on the island, was eliminated.
- Thus, in the next two episodes after that, a Gopher won.
- If one counts Mr. Coconut as a Gopher (because Owen have created him, and he was a Gopher), the Screaming Gophers have all the three characters that did not have lines in their elimination episode. Those are Justin, LeShawna and Mr. Coconut, despite he isn't human and can't speak.
- Ironically, Beth, the second lowest ranking member of the Screaming Gophers now in Total Drama Action, is now the highest ranking member of her team
